2 Fools in 110 Horses

Formerly known as the Baywatch Bangor Bus, yes Bangor was spelt wrong and we went with it, and yes it wasn’t actually a bus, this time we return in the same ‘Bus’ that actually has more wheels than it should have?!?!  But hey, a  couple hundred miles in and this could well be a possibility through no fault of our own, or our ‘strict’ mot tester, Mr S. Wonder.

After  being lucky enough to be one of last years award winning teams,  we grew attached to the 22 year old car, it done us well, even though we thought we had a slipping fan belt for just over a 4 days, which turned out to be the local wildlife  at the side of the road!… We have also got an oil change prior to the rally this year rather than in the final hours!

Our Car

Named ‘Betty’, she has the turning circle of an Airbus 380. Very handy when going through challenging mountain pass corners. Pamela Anderson was the star attraction last year with the Baywatch theme especially with the stag party that brought us to a stop for photos, but sadly she doesn’t make it this year, though we are not entirely alone!

This time we return with a roof, with air con(as it stands), major sanitisation, insurance company turn away, ‘minor modifications’, as ‘2 fools in 110 horses’ (minus wear and tear!) The car this year as a lot to thank to ai in particular. Grok and ChatGPT have been flat out, to make sure we don’t end up going up in flames.

We have also gone from a 3 man team to a double act. Some might say this is because we needed the extra space for gadgets, whilst part of that is true,  Chris will rejoin us in a future venture, “this time next year Chris” but this time round it’s Brother in Law’s , Lee & Russell.

Who are we?

Lee the Design and Implementation engineerologist! Who does actually have an engineer background, likes to go with the flow. His specialist areas are crimpers, fuses, wiring and making holes. He often comes up with some ideas that are in tune with it being a wacky rally and Russell has to pull the Captain Sensible card out occasionally and make him believe we can do it on future rallies! This is Lees 2nd Wacky Rally, and 3rd rally in total.

Russell, aka Social Media, Research, Audio & Technology Developmentologist, works in construction as a plant machine driver, he is used to driving long days so this is nothing new. 2nd Wacky Rally. In his toolkit for any repairs is velcro, cable ties and gaffa tape. Russell is the planner of the two, has to have  plan in place and  likes organisation. He was already planning for this years rally the week after coming off last years!!

As a pair we both like socialising, talking to other teams , espresso sambucas and like a party, maybe a little too much as some say we are to blame for the local Italian rozzers shutting the party down in Sauze d’Oulx. No comment officer.

The plan for this year

●      Cause absolute chaos in towns, villages & cities.✅ (a lot more than last year)

●      To not get arrested ✅

●      To safely pass Germany ✅

●      Make it to Bologna ✅

●      Raise money for charity ✅

Why are we doing this rally?

Well, last year we was just doing it for a laugh, lads on a road trip, that sort of thing. This year pretty much the same but we are doing it for Chiltern Wood School, where Russell’s son attends.

We like a challenge and we have set our bar pretty high…. To top last year!!!!
